I saw you the other night.
Did you see me?
You stood in a shadow,
tall and heaving
Colors bounced off the corners
of the dense and sweaty building,
but you were hiding.
I saw you, though,
and thought I smelled excitement
on your lips.
I felt you tip-toe in my direction
like a starved hunter,
crouch and determined.
The universe swelled, hummed then fell silent.
Nearing dawn, I left on the D Train and went home.
