Inspiration: Alexander McQueen
Whenever I need a heavy dose of inspiration, there are three people I usually turn to. For music, it is Bjork; for writing, Syliva Plath and for fashion it is Alexander McQueen.
Some people are born with the ability to penetrate our physical surfaces and uncover treasures hidden in layers. They are the ones who penetrate and shift our thoughts, compelling them to test the infallibility of our senses. They confront our list of impossibilities, carving a realm of opportunity we never knew existed. Certainly Alexander McQueen was one of these people.
I was never able to afford his clothes or attend his fashion shows, yet his work breathes life every time I see it. It excites me, and gives me hope that there are indeed more ways to experiment, more textures to try, more avenues of inspiration. It reminds me of the limitlessness of creativity, and the tremendous uniting powers of art.
He died prematurely, but his work will forever inspire.
